Take a few minutes to meet ALRI student researcher Rachel Poznikoff.

Rachel is a law student going into her third year at the University of Alberta. She has a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. While at Simon Fraser University, she assisted on research relating to children’s memory in forensic settings. In law school she has volunteered with the Student Legal Services Wills Project, Do-Your-Own-Divorce Clinic, and Trans-ID Clinic. In her free time, Rachel enjoys going to concerts, doing puzzles, and hanging out with her cats, Stitch and Vinny.

Why did you pursue a career in law?
I watched How to Get Away with Murder when I was in high school.

What is your favourite food?
Pasta!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Italy, because of the pasta!

What is the most challenging or fun part of your job?
For both, Scrabble (Sawyer and I are really bad at it, but we are trying).

What would your superhero power be?
Teleportation.

What is your most memorable moment in your career?
Volunteering with the USchool program where middle school aged children were given the opportunity to present arguments as lawyers and make decisions as judges in the moot court room.
