Aydin McClelland is a third-year law student at the University of Alberta. Prior to joining ALRI, Aydin obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Legal Studies from Carleton University. He has performed a variety of jobs in the legal field and is currently an executive member of the Environmental Law Student’s Association. In his free time, Aydin enjoys cooking, reading, and going for runs in the river valley. He is passionate about the law and hopes to continue to learn about reforming the law in Alberta this summer.
Why did you pursue a career in law?
I really like the rule against perpetuities.
What is your favourite food?
Is coffee a food? If coffee is a food, then my answer would be coffee.
Who inspires you?
I think I’m inspired by my peers. I’m surrounded by some very smart and charismatic individuals who push me to better myself.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Antarctica. There is likely nothing to do there, but it would be fun to tell people I’d been.
What is the most challenging or fun part of your job?
Having to stop myself from eating all the snacks in the lunchroom.
What would your superhero power be?
Knowing exactly when to take something out of the oven.
What is your most memorable moment in your career?
I don’t really know if I’ve had a “career” yet. Just enjoying the journey has been stressful rewarding.
If you were a crayola crayon, what would the name of your colour be?
Red, but like a cool red.
